Re-creation of "Flaming June"-- April 16, 2020-- Re-creation of a Famous Painting assignment--
Reflection: When I saw this assignment to chose from, I immediately thought ho much fun this assignment could be. I was looking at paintings and I saw "Flaming June" by Frederic Leighton and wanted to do this one. With the limited resources I have, I managed to bring out a picture somewhat like the painting. I have my sister as the model in an orange dress, but the dress was hard for her to pose in, so the pose is not the same as the pose in the painting. Looking back, I would maybe like to redo this assignment.
Flaming June is painted by Frederic Leighton, produced in 1895. Flaming June disappeared from view in the early 1900's and was rediscovered in the 1960's. It was auctioned during a period of time known to be difficult to selling for Victorian Era paintings. So it did not make a whole lot of money. The expression "flaming June", the month, is often characterized by unsettled weather and rain from the Atlantic.
